ABOUT

One of British Columbia's oldest, most remote, rural gardens. Day visits are available on most days during the season, and off-season during fine weather periods. Flights booked in advance through [email protected].  Or drop in by kayak, but make sure you've booked a guide to meet you once you arrive.

Visitors must be in good physical condition, be highly motivated, and have a keen interest in natural and cultural history.

HOW THEY ARE CREATING A BETTER WORLD

If you have a keen appreciation of cultural and natural history, and a healthy dose of stamina, this will be a rare way of appreciating the special cultural and natural history of this region that you will never forget.

The survival and continuity of Cougar Annie's Garden makes it an important heritage site. No other pioneer homestead of this scope exists on the West Coast. The garden has endured for over 100 years against all efforts from the rainforest to take over again. Before Tofino and the surrounding Islands we accessible by road, she ran the general store and Post Office from the island garden. The non-profit Boat Basin Foundation has taken over ownership and administration of the garden, its aim being to preserve the garden and to establish a site for botanical field study in Clayoquot Sound.
